Franklin Regional School District has embarked on a journey to create a comprehensive elementary campus, which will meet the educational needs of our students and provide much-needed upgrades to our facilities. The project started with a Feasibility Study and Demographic Study during the 2016-2017 school year, which was commissioned by the Board of School Directors. The studies took into account the current age and state of conditions that exist in the current school buildings, and the educational plan, vision, and direction of the district over the next decade and the changing demographics of the area.

The District also engaged the community, parents, faculty, staff, students, and others in Town Hall meetings, roundtable discussions, planning meetings, and tours to determine the best path for FR and the communities it serves.

The District’s Finance Committee recommended to the Board of School Directors that FR develop a comprehensive elementary campus to include renovations to Sloan Elementary School creating a K-2 primary education building and the new construction of an Intermediate Elementary School that will educate children in grades 3-5. Possible future improvements to the secondary main campus that houses the Middle and High Schools will be considered at a later date.

On July 31, 2019, groundbreaking occurred for the beginning phase of renovation to the existing Sloan Elementary School and construction of the new Intermediate Elementary School.
