Dear Franklin Regional Community,
I am thrilled to share that Franklin Regional is one of 23 national contenders for the $1 million YASS Prize, which celebrates the country’s education provider that best demonstrates sustainable, transformational, outstanding, and permissionless education. The Yass Prize is viewed as the “Pulitzer for Education Innovation,” and we are honored that FR is a contender for this award.
If Franklin Regional is awarded the Yass Prize, it will allow our district to take the lead in creating a Regional Advanced Career Academy network that includes new programs in Healthcare, Technology, and Business and Entrepreneurship. This initiative will serve students from Franklin Regional and neighboring districts, expanding access to real-world, hands-on learning experiences that prepare our learners for future careers.
As the only traditional public school among the 23 contenders, FR will pitch this innovative, student-centered programming to a panel of judges in Miami during the week of Nov. 2. We will learn which school wins the $1 million YASS Prize in early December, and I look forward to providing updates.
As we embark on this journey, your support is greatly appreciated. A traditional public school has yet to win the YASS Prize, and our goal is to be the first. I encourage each of you to join the district in amplifying this movement and follow along on social media as we advocate for regional collaboration and accessible opportunities.
Thank you for being a part of our Franklin Regional community.
With Gratitude,
Dr. Gennaro R. Piraino, Jr.
Superintendent
