FRMS Student Makes History at National History Day State Competition

Murrysville, PA (June 4, 2019) ~ Katelynn Hyndman, a 7th grader at Franklin Regional Middle School (FRMS), received 3rd place in the State National History Day Competition. Ms. Hyndman is the first student in FRMS history to achieve this level in the annual National History Day statewide competition.

Ms. Hyndman participated in the Individual Exhibition Board Category with her project titled, “Flight 93: Disrupting Evil.” Ms. Hyndman prepared her project entry by visiting the Flight 93 memorial and interviewing the Flight 93 Memorial Park Ranger.

Should the 2nd and 3rd place winners not be able to attend the National History Day competition, Ms. Hyndman would have the opportunity to advance to the National competition.

In addition to her state placement, Ms. Hyndman won the FR National History Day completion in her category and was in the top three at the Regional Competition conducted at Heinz History Center.

Other FRMS students competing in the National History Day state competition were Beyla Holbrook, 8th graders, and Willow Smith, 10th grader.
