The Franklin Regional Panther Foundation (FRPR) and the Murrysville Community Library Foundation (MCLF) are proudly partnering together through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide free monthly books to children under the age of 5 in the Franklin Regional School District to foster, inspire, and instill a lifelong love of literacy in our youngest community members.

Enroll your child for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, and they will receive a free book each month until they turn 5 years old!

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) makes reading exciting and fun for your children! Each month, your child will receive a new, carefully selected book mailed directly to your home, with no cost or obligation to your family. It is a FREE GIFT, made possible by the FRPF and the MCLF.

DPIL provides the infrastructure and coordinates book selection, while local partners, like FRPF and MCLF, are responsible for enrolling children and securing funding to cover the costs of the books, postage, and packing.

Since launching in 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has become the preeminent early childhood book-gifting program in the world. The flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has gifted over 200 million free books in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and The Republic of Ireland. This is achieved through funding shared by The Dollywood Foundation and Local Community Partners. The Imagination Library mails over 3 million high-quality, age-appropriate books directly to children’s homes each month. Each child enrolled in the program receives one book per month from birth to age five – at no cost to families. Dolly envisioned creating a lifelong love of reading and inspiring children to Dream More, Learn More, Care More and Be More™.

Why does early reading matter?

DIPL encourages parents and caregivers to read with their children, giving them a big boost toward a successful education. Cultivating an early love of literacy is critical for a child’s development. Early literacy is one of the strongest predictors of future academic success, and books are the gateway to imagination, knowledge, and opportunity. By the time a child reaches six years of age, they have fundamental traits that greatly affect their prospects to succeed throughout life. Daily reading directly impacts healthy development, like other routine activities such as eating, sleeping, and brushing teeth.

We can prepare children for a lifetime of success in reading and learning simply by providing them with the gift of books.

How does the program work?

Who is eligible?

Children under the age of five who reside in the Franklin Regional School District are eligible. It is completely free for families. Your child(ren) can look forward to new and exciting reading adventures from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library until they turn five years old, as long as you live within a covered geographic area.If your child moves outside of a covered geographic region, be sure to check the availability for an Imagination Library in your new community!
